The United States Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia, has issued an explanation addressing a common question from Liberians and other foreign nationals who are denied visas to the U.S. Following the release of the 2024–2025 Diversity Visa (DV) lottery results, the embassy responded on May 15, 2025, to widespread concerns about why visa application fees are not refunded when an application is denied. The Government of Liberia, through the National Commission on Arms, has announced the commencement of a nationwide firearms registration exercise for civilians authorized to possess and use firearms. Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Thursday in Monrovia, the Chairman of the Arms Commission, James Fromayan, said the exercise is in line with the Act establishing the Commission, as well as Executive Order #141 issued by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on February 24, 2025.
