The Director of Press at the House of Representatives of Liberia, Robert Benjamin Haynes, has extended warm congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA), following the organization’s 13th National Convention held in Greenbelt, Maryland, USA.
Joey Kennedy was re-elected as National President of ALJA, a move that underscores the continued confidence of the membership in his leadership.
Joining him at the helm is Volcano Shelton, elected as National Vice President, who brings significant experience and a renewed perspective to the association’s executive team.
Other elected officials include Successful Minor as National Secretary-General and Ms. Lisa Willie as National Treasurer.
Additionally, Mr. Lincoln Bryant was elected as a Permanent Member of the ALJA Board of Directors.
In his congratulatory message, Mr. Haynes commended the association for the peaceful and democratic conduct of the elections, applauding both outgoing and incoming leaders for their commitment to journalistic integrity, unity, and civic responsibility within the Liberian diaspora media community.
“The role of ALJA remains critical in shaping public discourse and strengthening democratic values both in the diaspora and in Liberia,” Mr. Haynes remarked. “We look forward to continued collaboration and engagement with ALJA under its new leadership.”
The ALJA National Convention is recognized as a key platform for professional development, networking, and strategic planning, all aimed at promoting press freedom, ethical journalism, and excellence in media practice among Liberian journalists in the Americas.
