Organizers of the Enough is Enough protest have finally presented their petition statement to the government of Liberia outlining number of issues for redress. The protesters earlier today march from different locations under the rain, holding placards and singing slogans, eventually converged at the grounds of the Capitol Building where they read the statement. Among other things, they named top entities and officials of government who they claimed are linked to corruption including their prosecution respectively. The Government of Liberia has announced planned activities ahead of Liberia’s 178 independence day celebration. Speaking at a press conference, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah named Emmet Dunn as the July 26 day orator. Amb. Dunn was appointed on December 10, 2024 by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai as special Envoy on partnership and philanthropy respectively. The Justice confirmation accumulated 24 votes with none abstained and none against. The Senate Protem Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has instructed Secretary of the Senate to communicate the decision to President Boakai for onward action. Justice Gbeisay when commission by President Boakai will replace former Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh who retired in June of this year. Photos and videos circulating on Cape Fm and TV have so far shown decimal assembling of protesters at major junctions and intersections in Montserrado County. Unlike the high impression of a perceived high turnout, Liberians woke up to relatively empty streets.
