The Rural Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) has announced its solar dam initiative for Lofa County.
The initiative is part of a broader hydroelectric project aimed at enhancing electricity access in the region.
It is also an initiative designed to complement the hydro project by leveraging solar energy during the dry season, while hydroelectric power will be utilized during the rainy season, promoting sustainable electricity growth in Lofa County.
Moses A. Saah, a representative from the RREA, emphasized the importance of maintaining the solar energy systems.
He urged residents to be vigilant and protect the solar pools to prevent future damage, ensuring that they function optimally.
Mr. Saah and his colleagues reassured Lofa County residents that reliable electricity supply is expected by July next year, including areas that have not yet received service.
In addressing concerns about theft of electricity, Mr. Saah mentioned that the agency has measures in place to track unauthorized meter usage through serial numbers.
He explained that the meters are specifically designated for surrounding communities, and he urged citizens to cooperate to build a brighter future for Liberia.
However, residents have expressed concerns regarding the timing and resource allocation for the solar dam project.
Many wonder why such initiatives are not implemented sooner given the urgent need for electricity in Lofa County.
At the ssme time, Citizens are calling for transparency and accountability in the process of the decommissioning from the RREA as the community awaits the promised power supply.
As the project moves forward, the collaboration of the citizens will be crucial in ensuring a better energy future for Lofa County and beyond.
