The Liberia Health and Rights Journalists Network (LHRJN), in partnership with the MediaAid Foundation, is set to host a day-long training session and officially launch a new mentorship program for students of the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism (PQSJ) on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The event, scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM at the LCM Conference Room within the JFK Compound, aims to equip young journalists with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively report on critical health and human rights issues across Liberia.
According to organizers, the mentorship program is part of a broader effort to strengthen media capacity and promote responsible, informed reporting on topics that directly affect public well-being and human dignity.
“This initiative is designed to provide hands-on mentorship to emerging journalists who are passionate about telling stories that matter,” said a spokesperson from the LHRJN. “We want to nurture a new generation of reporters who can highlight health challenges and human rights concerns with accuracy and empathy.”
Trainees and participants have been advised to arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the program to ensure a timely kickoff.
The launch marks a significant step in the professional development of PQSJ students, many of whom are expected to play vital roles in Liberia’s media landscape in the years ahead.
