President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., departed Liberia on Monday evening to participate in the 17th edition of the MEDays Forum, an internationally acclaimed conference scheduled for November 26–29, 2025, in Tangier, Morocco.
The President is traveling at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, under whose High Patronage the Forum founded in 2008, has become one of the world’s leading platforms for high-level dialogue on geopolitics, development, and global economic transformation.
Often referred to as “the Southern Forum,” the MEDays platform elevates the priorities and perspectives of the Global South.
Over the past 17 years, it has hosted more than 3,500 speakers and over 60,000 participants, according to Forum records.
President Boakai is scheduled to address the Forum on its opening day, November 26.
He will be the first among five Heads of State and Government expected to speak at the 2025 gathering, which is taking place under the theme:
“Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation.”
This year’s event will bring together:
300+ speakers,
Over 7,000 participants,
Delegations from more than 100 countries,
Policy experts, Nobel Laureates, think-tank leaders, business executives, and senior government officials.
Discussions will focus on the future of global cooperation amid rising geopolitical divisions, shifting strategic alliances, and mounting pressure on multilateral institutions.
Following his address, President Boakai will receive the Grand Prix MEDays, the Forum’s highest honor. The award recognizes his:
Leadership in advancing democratic governance;
Vision for Liberia’s national renewal and institutional reforms;
Commitment to peace, stability, and regional cooperation;
Role in repositioning Liberia as a credible and responsible global partner.
Additionally, the Liberian leader is expected to hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with fellow world leaders, policymakers, and global development partners throughout the Forum.
Liberia’s presence at the high-level gathering underscores its commitment to deepening international cooperation and contributing to global development conversations.
The President is accompanied by a small delegation of senior government officials.
In his absence, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Samuel A. Stevquoah will chair the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, President Boakai is expected to return to the country on November 28, 2025.
