A Liberian Humanatarian based in New York, the United States of America Eva Uboti Wallace has disclosed plans to embarked on a three million United States Dollars Project in Grand Gedeh County.
Ahead of the grand breaking ceremony in 2026, Madam Wallace said the initiative is her way of giving back to her Country and County in particular.
” We need to seize the moment, muster the courage, sacrifice and do things and return home and give back to Liberia “, she narrated.
The project she stated will ensure stability and dignity to the future generations in Liberia, particularly Grand Gedeh County.
She named the three projects as; Modern Library , Housing units and State of the Art Market facilities respectively.
Making specific reference to the three projects, she stated that the housing units will help address the rising demand in Grand Gedeh County’s population that is growing rapidly.
According to her, Grand Gedeh County is emerging as a key hub in the South East and it is about time to make the difference.
Speaking about Education, she indicated that 1m as part of the 3m will also be used to construct a modern Library and other learning facilities at the Grand Gedeh Community College, free of charge, respectively.
Recognizing the need for infrastructure development, madam Wallace also disclosed plans to construct two modern market facilities in two different locations within the County.
” We are in the modern world as such we need to upgrade along as such, the two markets will have day care , children’s playgrounds and all other necessary features and facilities “, she added.
Upon completion, Zwedru City, will host one of the markets to be named in honor of her aunt as the Ma Anna Uboti Market while the final one will be in Zlee- Town to also be named in honor of her late Mother as the Ma. Taryonnoh Uboti Dweh Market Center.
The market project she stressed is key because, she noticed back home that Liberians trying to make aunts meat struggle with market infrastructure as such saw the need to make meaningful intervention.
“We see our mothers under the rain ans sun selling just survive and we need to help change that”, she noted.
Madam Wallace used the medium to encourage other Diaspora Liberians to emulate her good example and go back home and invest in the rebuilding process of Liberia.
She pointed out that other Africans in United States of America and other parts of the world are returning home and helping to develop their Countries as such, Liberians in the Diaspora can also do same and now is the time.
“I am a humanitarian, very passionate to give back to my Country and to help empower the future generations”, she re-emphasized.
Madam Wallace who has been in the US since 1994 is also involved into real estate and has over the years extended assistance to her kinsman back home but as a humanitarian, she now sees the need as President Boakai encourage them to come back home to transform remittances into lasting investments in all sectors something, she disclosed she is committed to for the betterment of the larger population.
The former graduate of St. Teresa Convent, Booker T. Washington Institute, the University of Liberia as well as the American University where she did Marketing and Finance is the wife of a professional Liberian engineer, Mr. Wallace who designed the current Centrak Bank of Liberia including the former Europe Bank, the first glass building in Liberia.
Meanwhile, she told our reporter that she is beginning her interventions in Grand Gedeh County and will extend to other parts of Liberia in the future.
