In a move to advance modernization and optimization in the operations of the Civil Service Agency, The Director General of the CSA, Dr. Josiah Joekai has officially presented a draft act intended to establish the Civil Service Commission of Liberia.
The instrument submitted by the CSA Boss on behalf of the Chief Executive was also flanked by an official letter highlighting among other things, the significance of the act for subsequent legislative enactment.
Among other things, The proposed Commission aims to ensure fair access to employment and career advancement, improve working conditions for civil servants as well as promoting transparency and professionalism in public service.
The proposed legislation additionally seeks to establish the Civil Service Commission of Liberia, in accordance with Article 89 of the 1986 Constitution, which mandates the creation of autonomous public commissions.
Following the presentation of the key instrument, House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon commended the CSA Boss for the move and assured that the House of Representatives, under his leadership, will give the instrument urgent consideration.
Speaker Koon also emphasized the need to take care of civil servants, reechoing that when they are given decency in their various work places ,there will be improvement and productivity in the public sector.
Meanwhile, The draft Act will now be forwarded to the relevant committees of the House for scrutiny and subsequent action.
