The Chairperson of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights Cllr. Dempster Brown has underscore the need to bring to an end the culture of impunity in Liberia.
According to him, the culture of impunity and injustices are key attributing factors for Liberia’s civil crisis as such it is time to take practical action to address the issue.
Speaking at a national conference on corruption and human rights violation Cllr. Brown said the office of the Human rights Commission is very concern about the issue of corruption which he stated deprives the livelihood of the people.
He wants corruption to be define and to be non billable because it fights back.
Cllr. Brown pointed out that these same corrupt officials when released also used the same corruption money to fight back something he stated is a serious challenge.
He commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his latest practical step towards the fight against corruption and impunity in the society.
However, the Human right Commission boss added that more still needs to be done.
On the other hand, he blamed Liberians for electing the same old people who killed and looted the resources of the Country to Public position, this is sad and a big problem for Liberia, he blasted.
” People who killed our people are now millionaires, they move around the society and have no respect and regard for people “, he blasted.
The war and economic crimes court in Liberia are key because no one he maintains should killed and go free including steal and be hailed.
The Human Rights Commission is not a political institution but is there to execute its mandate of promoting and protecting human rights.
