Liberian Referee, Emmanuel Mensah has been hailed for his outstanding performance in the ongoing Afcon under 20 tournament currently taking place in Egypt.

Dressed in his blue and Black outfit, Mensah served as the center referee in the match between Tunisia and Kenya.

Very focused and independent in his judgment and well positioned in the middle of the field, the Liberian Referee made a key decision in the extra time of the first half of the match by awarding an uncontested penalty to Tunisia after carefully and professionally reviewing the Video Assistant Referee popularly know as VAR screen.

Mensah’s professional and unbiased decision on the pitch, especially in handling the entire game, did not go unnoticed as several fans and followers of the game commended him for such a magnificent job well done.

Sunday’s officiating marked Mensah’s second time in the ongoing tournament.

It can be recalled on match Day One in the ongoing Under 20 tournament, Mensah served as 4th official in the match between Ghana and DR Congo.

He is amongst the few best Referees that Liberia can boost of as his current assignment on the continental stage is a clear testament of the ongoing transformation and improvements of the game at the Liberia Football Association headed by Mustapha Raji.

Unlike before , Raji’s administration has significantly helped in training Liberian Referees at all levels as the outstanding ones continue to show case their skills on the bigger stage when given a chance by CAF or FIFA to perform.

Meanwhile, as the tournament continues and with his impressive performance thus far, the Liberian Referee is expected to officiate more fixtures, thereby putting his country on the map.
