The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC), Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, is participating in a high-level Digital Era Conference bringing together prominent women leaders from across Africa.
The conference, hosted under the auspices of the Global Leadership Academy for Women, has convened delegates from 35 African countries to explore the evolving role of women in leadership, technology, and governance.
The gathering forms part of a broader effort to strengthen women’s participation in decision-making spaces across the continent.
Discussions during the sessions have focused on the need for greater intentionality in promoting women’s leadership, the importance of resilience in overcoming systemic barriers, and the growing significance of digital empowerment as Africa navigates rapid technological transformation.
Speakers underscored that women must be equipped with the skills and platforms necessary to thrive in the digital space, while also emphasizing collaboration, academia-driven innovation, and community engagement as essential tools in confronting challenges such as violence and discrimination that impede women’s progress.
Participants at the Digital Era Forum were also encouraged to heighten their advocacy roles, strengthen community networks, and safeguard their digital presence as the continent continues to adopt new technologies.
The Global Leadership Academy for Women is a flagship initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), implemented in partnership with the UN Economic Analysis and Development Unit (UNEAD).
The initiative aims to shape inclusive, future-ready leadership by equipping African women with the knowledge, confidence, and networks needed to drive transformative change in their respective countries.
Madam Browne Lansanah’s participation in the event reaffirms Liberia’s commitment to advancing women’s leadership and contributing to continental dialogues on digital innovation and governance.
