Grand Bassa Superintendent Imposes Temporary Ban on Logging Truck toSave Damaged Roads

Grand Bassa County Superintendent Karyou Johnson has ordered a temporary
halt on all logging truck operations within Grand Bassa County.

The decision comes after reports of severe damage inflicted on local roads
by heavy-duty logging vehicles, which have crippled trade, transportation, and
healthcare services in the county.

Over the past weeks, residents and commuters passing through Dahn Town have
faced deteriorating and perilous road conditions. Local businesses,
particularly petty traders, along with healthcare providers, are struggling to
operate amid the chaos.

To enforce the new restriction, the Liberian National Police have been
deployed to ensure compliance with the temporary closure.

Supporting the Superintendent’s action, Representative Alfred H. Flomo of
Electoral District #4 publicly expressed his backing via his official Facebook
page

He stated that  the superintendent’s
decision to halt all logging truck movements until these companies can repair
the damaged areas is very timely and laudable while seeking AML assistance,
cannot allow these trucks to continue damaging the roads.

Meanwhile,  community members have
joined the cause calling for urgent repairs, indicating that the region is face
with critical crossroads—balancing economic interests with the need to restore
safe and functional infrastructure.

The temporary ban underscores the severity of the road damage and the
commitment of local authorities to prioritize community welfare amid mounting
pressure.
