The House of Representatives is set to reconvene today, Friday, May 9, marking the start of the Second Quarter of its 2nd Legislative Session, in accordance with the recently amended legislative calendar.
This resumption follows revisions to Section 1 of the Act Fixing Day for the Annual Adjournment of the Legislature, which now outlines three constituency breaks throughout the year.
First break is third Friday of March to second Friday of May and second break is third Friday of July to third Friday of October whereas the Second Friday of December to the Friday before the second working Monday in January
The new schedule is designed to align with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Law, which shifted the national fiscal year from July–June to January–December.
Upon return, lawmakers are expected to prioritize discussions on economic reforms, national development agendas, and budgetary planning under the revised fiscal framework.
