Former Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Samuel D. Tweah Jr., has threatened to file a defamation lawsuit against talk show host Stanton Witherspoon, former CEO of Spoon network.

The legal action stems from Witherspoon’s allegations that Tweah misappropriated US$30 million in COVID-19 emergency funds.

Addressing reporters at the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Headquarters in Congo Town, Tweah vehemently denied the claims, calling them “malicious misinformation” designed to damage his reputation and deceive the Liberian public.

Tweah’s statement comes amidst increased public scrutiny over his involvement in a wider corruption investigation.

This probe concerns over L$1 billion and US$500,000 in allegedly unauthorized financial transfers.
