The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has officially announced that its 2025 Annual Convention will take place in Ganta City, Nimba County, from December 4–7, 2025. The event will be held at the Wuo Garbe Tarppia Intellectual Hall at Peace Empire Hotel.
The announcement was made Monday by LNBA President Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah during a news conference in Monrovia.According to Cllr. Varmah, the official opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 5, under the theme: “Strengthening the Rule of Law: The Lawyer’s Role in Restoring Public Trust.”He said .
The convention will bring together legal professionals from across Liberia to examine challenges within the justice system and explore ways lawyers can help restore public confidence in the rule of law.
The Bar will also use the occasion to honor high-performing judges who have disposed of significant numbers of cases during 2025, contributing to improved judicial efficiency and public trust.
This year’s keynote speaker is Cllr. Mark M. Marvay, Managing Partner at Beyond Law Chambers and former member of the LNBA National Executive Council. He is expected to address the state of the legal sector and the role of legal practitioners in Liberia’s governance architecture.
A major highlight of the annual gathering will be the mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program.
Counsellors and Attorneys-at-Law are strongly encouraged to attend, as participants will earn the required 10 CLE credit hours for the 2025 professional year.
He added that Introduction to the Value-Added Tax Law of 2024, which will replace the Goods and Services Tax (GST), along with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning Regulation No. 136 and associated rules and Procedures for Implementing the VAT Law of 2024, which amends Chapter 10 of the Revenue Code to transition from GST to VAT.
According to him, these lectures will be delivered by the legal team of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). The CLE will also include a review of the Rules of Court, based on recommendations from a committee established by the Honorable Supreme Court.
The 2025 Convention will feature a range of social and fraternity activities aimed at fostering unity among members, including a parade and sports events on Saturday, December 6. As the highest decision-making body of the Bar, the National Convention provides a platform for discussions and resolutions that influence Liberia’s legal and governance landscape.
Meanwhile, the LNBA has announced the completion of the ground floor of its National Headquarters building located along the Roberts International Airport highway. A full progress report on the project will be presented at the convention.
The leadership expressed appreciation to members and supporters who have contributed to the project’s advancement.
