The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Bong County Detachment, has arrested a suspected drug dealer identified as Steven Dicks at the popular Kampala Barrick in Gbarnga City.
According to the LDEA, the arrest followed intelligence reports that pointed to renewed illegal drug activities in the area.
Officers subsequently launched an operation that led to the apprehension of Dicks and the seizure of a quantity of illicit drugs commonly known as “Crush,” with an estimated street value exceeding LRD 18,000.
Speaking to reporters, Bong County LDEA Commander Thomas Saye disclosed that the suspect and his associates were allegedly attempting to reorganize Kampala Barrick as a hub for drug sales.
He noted that the location had previously been shut down by the agency last year as part of a broader crackdown on narcotics trafficking across the county.
Commander Saye emphasized that the arrest demonstrates the LDEA’s sustained commitment to eliminating drug activities in Bong County and safeguarding young people from substance abuse.
He warned individuals involved in drug dealing that the agency remains vigilant and will not allow drug networks to resurface.
The LDEA commander further assured the public that his detachment will continue to enforce drug laws without fear or favor, stressing that anyone found in violation will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The suspect has since been forwarded to the appropriate court of jurisdiction for further investigation and prosecution, as the LDEA intensifies its operations throughout Bong County.
