The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has announced a major interception of illegal drugs following a raid conducted on the first day of its newly launched anti-drug initiative, Operation “Clean Wave.”
According to the Agency, the operation, which is being led by ACP Patrick Kormazu, Deputy Officer-in-Charge for Operations, was carried out on December 8, 2025, at about 1:00 p.m. in the Dexville and Caldwell communities.
During the raid, officers arrested Aminita Kallon, a 46-year-old Sierra Leonean national believed to be a notorious drug dealer.
The LDEA disclosed that the raid led to the seizure of 102.5 kilograms of marijuana, valued at approximately LD$1,947,500 (US$10,250).
Those arrested include, Aminita Kallon, 46, Sierra Leonean, Siatta Massalay, 30, Sierra Leonean, Mamie Fofana, 37, Sierra Leonean, Marian Gbassa, 37, and Cecelia Ben, 25 Liberians.
According to the LDEA release,each suspect was found in connection with the 102.5kg of marijuana seized during the operation.The release noted that all five women are currently being held at its headquarters for further investigation.
Officials say the early success of Operation “Clean Wave” demonstrates the Agency’s renewed commitment to combating drug trafficking and strengthening community safety.
The operation is expected to continue with more raids in densely populated communities identified as hotspots for drug distribution.
