The government of Liberia has called for stronger cooperation between Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire in health and public service administration.
The message call was made by Civil Service Agency (CSA) Director-General Dr. Josiah F. Joekai Jr. during a high-level meeting with Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé.
The meeting took place on June 1 at the Prime Minister’s Office in Abidjan on the sidelines of the Third High-Level Meeting of the Health and Public Service Network of Africa (HaPSNA), which is being hosted by Côte d’Ivoire.
According to Dr. Joekai, President Boakai’s message conveyed goodwill to Ivorian President Alassane Dramane Ouattara and emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration between the two neighboring countries in healthcare, public service governance, and sustainable development.
Speaking on Cape FM’s Good Morning Cape program, Dr. Joekai said the Liberian leader views regional cooperation as essential to addressing common development challenges and improving public sector performance across West Africa.
“I am truly honored to be here, Mr. Prime Minister. I bring warm greetings from His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, who has asked me to convey his best wishes to his brother, His Excellency Alassane Dramane Ouattara,” Dr. Joekai said during the courtesy visit.
He also thanked the Government and people of Côte d’Ivoire for hosting the continental forum and praised the country’s commitment to fostering partnerships that promote stronger healthcare systems and more effective public institutions throughout Africa.
In response, Prime Minister Mambé welcomed the Liberian delegation and reaffirmed Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening its longstanding relationship with Liberia.
He stressed the importance of continued collaboration in improving health services and public administration in both countries.The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to President Boakai and assured the Liberian delegation that the message would be conveyed to President Ouattara.
The CSA Bossi was accompanied by Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Côte d’Ivoire, Willye Mai Tolbert King.
This year’s meeting is focused on accelerating public sector reforms and enhancing healthcare delivery across the continent which brings together public service and health leaders from across Africa to exchange best practices, promote innovation, and strengthen institutional capacity
