The Government of Liberia has sharply responded to recent comments by Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, dismissing his assertions against the Unity Party-led administration as misleading, inconsistent, and lacking constructive value.
Speaking during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs Daniel Sando criticized the senator’s remarks, describing them as “blind criticism that does not reflect the realities of the government’s ongoing development agenda.”
Sando argued that Senator Snowe’s comments stand in stark contrast to his own political activities. He pointed to the senator’s recent donation of US$10,000 to the Opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) during the party’s groundbreaking ceremony in Monrovia.
According to the Deputy Minister, such a contribution to an opposition event, while simultaneously criticizing the government, raises concerns about the senator’s political motives, sincerity, and credibility.
“Leaders who wish to meaningfully contribute to national discourse must demonstrate consistency and clarity,” Sando said.
“You cannot publicly criticize the government while supporting rival political activities. It sends mixed signals and undermines serious national conversations.”
Senator Snowe recently criticized the Unity Party’s upcoming December 6 fundraising program, arguing that such events would not address the pressing “bread-and-butter issues” confronting ordinary Liberians.
In response, Sando emphasized that the administration remains firmly committed to strengthening the national economy, expanding development programs, promoting transparency and accountability, and ensuring responsible management of public resources.
The Deputy Minister further stressed that fundraising activities are legitimate tools for mobilizing support toward key development priorities and should not be politicized.
He urged political leaders to engage the government constructively rather than resorting to commentary describing it as politically motivated and lacking practical solutions.
Sando has reaffirmed the government’s focus on delivering essential services, improving livelihoods, and implementing development projects across all regions of Liberia.
