The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has confirmed four
active cases of the Mpox virus across multiple counties.
Speaking at an impromptu press conference on Sunday, NPHIL Director General
Dr. Chris Dugbeh Nyan disclosed that two cases have been recorded in
Montserrado County, while Sinoe and Margibi Counties have reported one case
each.
Dr. Nyan revealed that one of the patients is a well-known celebrity,
Jabateh, whose specimen was collected and who is currently receiving treatment
at a designated medical facility.
He urged citizens not to panic and called for calm, assuring the public that
surveillance and border control measures have been intensified to prevent
further spread of the virus.
