The mysterious death of 19-year-old Yarkpowolo Moisemah, a key witness in
the murder case of Monyoungor Keleko, has sparked public outcry and raised
serious questions about witness protection and transparency within the justice
system.

According to reports, Yarkpowolo identified three suspects—Lamine Flomo,
Aaron Kollie, and Old Man Gbano who he claimed were involved in Keleko’s
murder.

 Moisemah also revealed that the
suspects had allegedly threatened him, warning him to remain silent. In spite
of these threats, he courageously reported the information to local
authorities, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

However, in a troubling turn of events, Yarkpowolo was found dead while in
police custody. Authorities initially reported his death as a suicide, but the
suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident prompted widespread
skepticism and concern.

The Citizens Action Committee (CAC) quickly intervened, demanding an
independent autopsy to determine the true cause of death.

The Ministry of Justice later released a statement declaring Yarkpowolo’s
death as “unnatural,” further fueling suspicions and placing pressure on law
enforcement agencies to conduct a transparent investigation. The decision to
prohibit live media coverage of the case has only intensified public mistrust.

The impact of the case has rippled throughout Lofa County, where local
celebrations were postponed out of respect and protest. Community leaders,
civil society organizations, and citizens are calling for accountability and
stronger safeguards for individuals who come forward in criminal
investigations.

As investigations continue, the tragic death of Yarkpowolo Moisemah remains
a stark reminder of the dangers faced by whistleblowers and witnesses. The
public demands not only answers but also reforms to ensure that those who speak
out in pursuit of justice are protected, not punished.
