Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. has recommitted the full support of the Liberian Senate for the government’s decentralization agenda, describing it as a vital strategy for accelerating rural development across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Senate, Senator Moye made the remarks during the official launch of the Ministry of Local Government and the dedication of the JNB Decentralization Building by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. in Monrovia on Monday.
Addressing government officials, stakeholders, and development partners, Moye emphasized that decentralization remains a cornerstone of the administration’s development agenda.
He assured that the Senate is committed to backing policies and legislative measures aimed at strengthening local governance and bringing government services closer to citizens.
“The Senate stands fully committed to supporting policies and legislative actions that strengthen local governance and bring government closer to the people,” he stated.
Moye noted that since the inception of the current administration, improvements in local governance structures are beginning to yield tangible results, particularly in rural communities.
He highlighted growing local ownership of development initiatives as evidence of progress under the decentralization framework.
Describing decentralization as a catalyst for inclusive growth, the Bong County lawmaker stressed that empowering counties and local institutions will help bridge longstanding disparities between urban and rural areas.
He further reiterated his commitment to governance reforms, noting that decentralization is essential for ensuring equitable development and fostering national cohesion.
The launch of the JNB Decentralization Building marks a significant milestone in Liberia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve service delivery at the local level.
