President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has nominated Attorney Cornelia W. Kruah as Liberia’s new Minister of Youth and Sports, as part of a broader executive realignment aimed at strengthening key national institutions.

The nomination follows the President’s decision to reposition the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) to assume a more strategic role within Liberia’s national security and migration management framework.

As part of this restructuring, outgoing Youth and Sports Minister Cllr. Jerror Cole Bangalu has been appointed Executive Director of the LRRRC.

Attorney Kruah’s nomination places her at the helm of a ministry responsible for youth empowerment, sports development, and national cohesion at a time when Liberia’s youthful population continues to play a central role in the country’s social and economic transformation.

Although official details of her policy priorities are yet to be outlined, the President expressed confidence in Attorney Kruah’s professional competence, legal background, and administrative capacity to provide effective leadership at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

President Boakai has emphasized that the leadership changes reflect a forward-looking approach to governance, designed to align institutions with emerging national and regional challenges.

The restructuring, he noted, is part of a broader effort to ensure that Liberia’s public institutions are responsive, strategically focused, and capable of delivering results.

In the same round of appointments, President Boakai named Honorable Jackson Paye as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA).

These nominations according to the Executive Mansion release are subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate, in accordance with law.
