The National Identification Registry (NIR) has issued a stern warning to its employees regarding the illicit practice of soliciting money for national ID card processing.

Executive Director Andrew Peters revealed that the NIR has received reports of individuals demanding payment to expedite the delivery of national identification cards.

Speaking to reporters in Congo Town on Friday, Mr. Peters emphasized that such actions are strictly prohibited.

Addressing the issue of government employees leaving their offices under the pretense of processing their national ID cards, Mr. Peters announced that the NIR has deployed a mobile team specifically to visit government offices, providing ID card services directly to employees on-site contrary to their most recent actions.

Meanwhile, The NIR is said to be enforcing the President’s executive order among other things aimed at reinforcing the use of National Identification cards by all.

The NIR used the ocassion to encourage all Liberians to take advantage of the process which the executive Director assured the public is very effective and efficient.
