The Minister of Youth and Sports, Designate, Atty. Cornelia W. Kruah, has distanced herself from recent public statements issued by various groups and individuals in support of her pending confirmation.
The Minister Designate clarified that such statements were made independently and not at her direction.
In a press release issued Tuesday, Atty. Kruah referenced statements from several youth and student organizations, including the Union of Nimba University and College Student Associations (UNUCSA), some of which made mention of Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon.
While expressing appreciation for the solidarity and encouragement shown by young people and student groups across the country, the minister-designate emphasized that neither she nor her team authorized or coordinated the statements. She noted, however, that citizens and organizations have a fundamental right to freely express their views.
“Atty. Kruah holds the Honorable Liberian Senate in the highest regard,” the release stated, adding that she remains committed to a confirmation process grounded in civility, mutual respect, and confidence in Liberia’s constitutional institutions.
The minister-designate also underscored the importance of responsible public discourse, particularly on matters of national leadership. According to the release, she believes discussions surrounding the confirmation process should reflect shared national values of peace, dignity, and constructive engagement.
Atty. Kruah concluded by reaffirming her willingness to fully engage the confirmation process as it continues before the Liberian Senate.
