The Liberia Institute for Public Administration (LIPA) is rolling out a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at strengthening its role as Liberia’s premier center for public sector training and capacity building.

Director General Nee-Alah Varpilah, speaking Thursday on the “Good Morning Cape” program, said the institute had struggled for nearly seven years with low visibility and limited public recognition, a challenge he described as “unfortunate for an institution entrusted with such a critical national mandate.”

Since his appointment in 2024, Varpilah explained, LIPA has undertaken a series of strategic reforms, including institutional restructuring, enhanced public engagement, and the forging of regional partnerships.

According to him, major achievement is the collaboration with the Ghana Institute of Public Administration, which provides Liberian youths and civil servants opportunities for advanced studies and specialized training.

He said several Liberians are already benefiting from the program, adding that it is “practical step toward building a more professional and skilled civil service.”

“Strengthening human capacity remains at the core of LIPA’s mission,” Varpilah emphasized,

Varpilah has urged stakeholders, including government, private sector, and development partners to support the institute’s reform agenda for national development.

Assuring that more initiatives aimed at enhancing LIPA’s impact nationwide are forthcoming.

He maintain that with these measures, LIPA aims to cement its reputation as a hub of excellence in public administration, contributing directly to a more effective, professional, and accountable civil service in Liberia.
