Leading by Example: County Agriculture Coordinator Cultivates Office Garden

Jasper Sherrif Tweh, County Agriculture Coordinator of River Gee, is championing local gardening through the establishment of an office garden that highlights sustainable practices and fosters agricultural engagement.

According to Mr. Sheriff , the garden will not only enhance the work of the environment but will also serve as a hands-on demonstration of effective gardening techniques for individuals in the agricultural industry.

Tweh revealed that the office garden, which was created four months ago, features a variety of vegetables, including cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes, alongside plantains and pineapples all grown in River Gee County.

As the growing season progresses, his aim among other things is to expand the garden by adding more vegetable varieties.

“My reason is to inspire others to cultivate their own gardens, whether in their homes or shared spaces,” Tweh remarked. “We want to create a ripple effect. If we can motivate even a few individuals to start gardening, we can greatly enhance the well-being of our community”, he re-emphasized.

The Agriculture Coordinator views his small garden as a way to encourage both co-workers and local residents to adopt gardening and sustainable practices.

“It’s about demonstrating that anyone can grow their own food, even in limited spaces,” he re-echoed.

Recently, the office garden celebrated its first harvest, becoming a hub for community conversations.

In addition, the County Agriculture Coordinator unveil plans to organize community discussions and volunteer days, inviting local residents to join him in the gardening efforts.

He believes that these plans will promote collaboration and educate participants on sustainable agriculture and the significance of local food production.

Through the office garden project, the Agriculture Coordinator exemplifies the importance of leading by example.

His dedication to sustainable practices and his readiness to share knowledge nurtures a culture of sustainability and awareness within the community.

As the garden flourishes, it serves as a constant reminder of the vital connection between food sources and the environment.
