The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially scheduled the by-election for the Nimba County District 5 Representative position for August 12, 2025.

This announcement follows the election of the former Representative, Samuel Kogar, to the position of Senator of Nimba County.

The NEC issued a writ to Upper Nimba Election Magistrate Milton Paye at the Commission’s headquarters located on 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia.

Among other things, the writ formally instructs Magistrate Paye to organize and oversee the by-election.

Upon receiving the writ, NEC Liberia Upper Nimba Magistrate Milton Paye expressed his commitment to implementing electoral reforms to ensure a “fair and credible” election, with the aim of upholding the integrity of the elections and maintaining public trust.

The Writ of Election is a legal directive issued by the Elections Commission, as mandated by the New Elections Law of 1986, specifically Section 4.3 (2).

This section of the law requires the NEC to instruct its election magistrates to conduct elections within their respective counties or districts.
