The handover ceremony was held at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital and was attended by key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the hospital, Rev. James T. Korboi; Roland Gobeh from the County Dynosis (C.D.O); a representative from the Office of the City Mayor; and several administrators and staff of the hospital.

Moses Dowee, head of the delegation from the NBSP, expressed deep appreciation to the office of the County Superintendent, local authorities, the Lofa County Health Team, Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital, the media, and the public for their support for the vital initiative.

He highlighted the many challenges the team faced in other counties and emphasized the importance of community cooperation.

Mr. Dowee further stressed the critical role of blood donation in reducing preventable deaths due to a lack of timely blood transfusions.

Rev. James T. Korboi, Chairman of the Hospital Board, commended the NBSP team for the initiative, noting that it is the first time such a comprehensive process has been carried out in Voinjama.

He encouraged continued collaboration and support for similar health-driven efforts.

Also speaking was Francis Eague Lansana, the Development Superintendent of Lofa County, who extended his appreciation to the Ministry of Health for the initiative.

He stressed the need for widespread public awareness campaigns to educate communities on the blood donation process.

According to him, improving public understanding will prevent misinterpretations of medical procedures by patients and caregivers.

Representing the County Health Officer, Dr. Moses U. Weidehgar and Marcus Sepu also serves as the head of the Community both recommended that CHSS take full responsibility for informing communities about the blood donation process.

They emphasized the importance of incorporating these explanations into regular health talks at various facilities to reduce misconceptions and build trust in the healthcare system.

Following a week-long operation, the team successfully delivered 60 pounds of blood to the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital, which is expected to sustain the facility for the next 35 days.

Meanwhile, Additional blood supplies were also distributed to Kolahun Hospital and Foya Boma Hospital, extending the program’s impact across the county.
