Deputy Inspector General of the Liberia National Police for Operations, Cllr. J. Nelson Freeman has called on members of Liberia’s joint security sector to uphold professionalism, integrity, and unity in the discharge of their duties, emphasizing that national security is a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the public.
“You are the backbone of national stability, the guardians of public safety, and the silent heroes who work day and night to ensure our citizens can sleep in peace,” he said.
Speaking during a special gathering of the joint security sector held in Monrovia, the Police Deputy Inspector General, Freeman expressed deep appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of Liberia’s security personnel, including the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service (LNFRS), and other agencies.
He reminded officers that the uniform they wear is not merely a symbol of authority but one of responsibility and sacrifice, urging them to maintain integrity, discipline, and respect for human rights at all times.
Cllr. Freeman further called on Liberians to actively support the work of security institutions by cooperating with officers, reporting crimes, and fostering safer communities.
“Security is not the duty of one man or one institution, it is a shared responsibility,” Cllr. Freeman noted.
“When the people and the security work hand in hand, peace will reign, and development will thrive.”
He added that his office is committed to ensuring that police operations across the country remain efficient, transparent, and people centered, underscoring the importance of coordination among all joint security institutions in maintaining peace and enforcing the rule of law.
“To every gallant officer, never forget: your service matters. Your courage inspires. Your discipline protects. Liberia counts on you,” he said, concluding his address with a call for unity and patriotism.
The event brought together representatives from the country’s key security agencies, government officials, and civil society leaders, all reaffirming their commitment to building a safer and more peaceful Liberia.
