The Compassionate Hearts Initiative (COHI) has donated assorted food items and drinks to three orphanage homes in Monrovia as part of its ongoing efforts to support orphaned and vulnerable children across Liberia.
The donation exercise, which took place in the SKD Community, benefited My Brother’s Keeper Orphanage Home, the Liberia Youth Christian Foundation Orphanage Home, and the Rock of Divine Children Orphanage Home.
Speaking to journalists during the distribution, COHI Executive Director, Mother Rachel Wahpoe Potter, said the initiative is driven by a deep sense of compassion and a commitment to improving the welfare of less fortunate children.
“Our mission is to give hope to children who are facing difficult life circumstances,” Mother Potter said. “We want them to know that they are not forgotten and that there are people who genuinely care about their future.”
She explained that her motivation to establish and sustain the initiative is rooted in her personal life experiences.“As a single mother, I once went through serious challenges trying to care for my children,” she disclosed.
“Those experiences inspired me to reach out to vulnerable children who are going through similar struggles.”
Mother Potter encouraged the children at the orphanage homes to remain hopeful and focused on their dreams.“No matter your situation, always believe that better days are ahead,” she told the children. “
There will always be caring mothers and fathers who are willing to stand by you and support you when you need help.”
In response, administrators of the beneficiary orphanage homes expressed gratitude to the Compassionate Hearts Initiative for what they described as a timely intervention.
“This donation came at a time when we were experiencing serious food shortages,” said one of the orphanage administrators. “We are very grateful to COHI for remembering us and supporting the children.”
The administrators appealed for continued assistance from humanitarian organizations and well-meaning Liberians to help sustain the welfare of children living in orphanage homes.
