In an effort to improve and educate
Liberia’s health professionals, thirty-two (32) practitioners have departed for
Chengdu, southwestern China, to participate in a two-week seminar on public
health and health standards.

According to an official statement issued on May 6, 2025, the training will
run from May 9 to 22, 2025, and is fully funded by the Government of the
People’s Republic of China. The seminar is part of a strategic cooperation
between Liberia and China aimed at enhancing Liberia’s health delivery system.

The statement further noted that the program is designed to expose Liberian
health professionals to international best practices and innovations in public
health.

Speaking during a pre-departure briefing at the Ministry on Monday, May 5,
2025, Assistant Minister for Curative Services, Dr. Teyah Sackie Moore,
reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to capacity building and global
collaboration.

“Let us go and lift the flag of Liberia higher,” Dr. Moore stated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Moore disclosed that the partnership includes four key areas
of collaboration: knowledge exchange, health technology, software applications
in health, and regulatory standards.

Concluding his farewell message, Dr. Moore urged the team to represent
Liberia with pride and return with insights that will contribute to national
health development.

The Ministry also expressed confidence in the selected participants, who
were drawn from health institutions across the country, and voiced optimism
that they will use the training to help modernize and revitalize Liberia’s
health sector.
