Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. of Bomi County has leverage praises on Citizenry for the a well organized anti-drug march.
He named the August 7, 2025 “SAY NO TO DRUGS” March as historic and successful, calling on the Government of Liberia to adopt a more practical and robust approach to addressing the growing drug crisis in the country.
According to a release from Team Snowe, the thousands of Liberians from across political and social backgrounds marched to Capitol Hill to petition the government in taking a more decisive action against drug and substance abuse with a sole aim to safeguard the country’s security is a major step in the fight against drug.
He said despite heavy rainfall, the unity and determination demonstrated by the petitioners highlighted the nation’s action to confront this crisis.
Senator Snowe however emphasized the need to enforce or review existing drug laws, invest in rehabilitation centers, and strengthen the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) through better collaboration with community leaders.
He also praised the organizers and sponsors of the march for their dedication to an apolitical, national cause.
“I urge all government officials to take every word in the petition seriously, and to respond with transparency and inclusive dialogue.
As Senator, I am committed to using my oversight role to elevate and act on the petition from the August 7 March,” Senator Snowe stressed.
Meanwhile, A conglomerate of Liberians gathered yesterday to petition the government to advance its fight against drugs.
Women, men, boys and girls from different political backgrounds, civil society organizations poured out in heavy rainfall to demonstrate their frustration about the high effect of drug shadowing her youthful population.
