Following thorough confirmation hearings, the Liberian Senate has unanimously confirmed Associate Justice Yarmie Quiqui Gbeisay as Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia.
The Justice confirmation accumulated 24 votes with none abstained and none against.
The Senate Protem Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has instructed Secretary of the Senate to communicate the decision to President Boakai for onward action.
Justice Gbeisay when commission by President Boakai will replace former Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh who retired in June of this year.
Her retirement is in accordance with Article 72(b) of the Liberian Constitution that calls for Chief Justices to retire at 70 years .
