Bong County District #6 Representative Moima Briggs Mensah has criticized expelled Montserrado District #10 lawmaker Yekeh Kolubah, describing him as “one of the most corrupt” members of the Legislature and defending her support for his removal.
Speaking recently at a press conference Rep. Briggs Mensah alleged that while lawmakers of both the 54th and 55th Legislatures invested personal resources into development initiatives in their constituencies, Kolubah failed to do the same for District #10.
She further accused the former lawmaker of prioritizing personal enrichment over public service, claiming he accumulated significant wealth, including properties in Liberia and abroad.
According to her, Kolubah had openly boasted about his financial gains, raising concerns about the source of his wealth.
The Bong County representative justified her backing of the expulsion, citing what she described as Kolubah’s “unacceptable conduct” within and outside the Legislature.
She maintained that her decision remains firm, noting that she would support the same action again if presented.Rep. Briggs Mensah also disclosed that efforts to remove Kolubah date back to the 54th Legislature.
At the time, she said, she opposed outright expulsion and instead recommended suspension as a more measured disciplinary response.
However, her latest remarks signal a significant shift, as she now fully aligns with the decision that led to Kolubah’s expulsion, reinforcing ongoing debates about accountability and conduct within Liberia’s legislative body.
