The Government of Liberia appears to be applying more aggressive approach against the war on drugs.
As a sound of demonstrating practical political will, the Chief Executive flanked by Health Minister Dr. Louise Kpoto was seen displaying a black ti shirt, with inscription, say no to drugs as a move of showing solidarity with the campaigners against drugs.
Following the massive march against drugs, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai released a strong policy statement describing the drugs crisis as a National emergency.
According to him, such emergency demands more than words but rather bold, sustained and irreversible actions.
In a short but very powerful statement, the Liberian leader said the Country cannot allow the spread of illicit drugs to turn its children into victims, communities into ghettos and neighborhoods to shelters for criminal elements.
“We have been hard at work in this fight, never wavering in our resolve”, he re-assured the Liberian people.
The Government since the crisis continue to assure the Liberian people of its commitment to the fight against drug.
However, advocates and campaigners against drugs want practical action, real support and empowerment in order to win the war against drugs.
In the wake of the crisis, drugs continue to be a serious crisis mostly affecting the young people as more needs to be done to collectively battle the crisis hands-on.
