The Ministry of Health, accompanied by a delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) led by Hawa O. Sana and Maima Briggs Mensah of the Liberian Legislature, conducted a joint supervisory visit to the WAHO Health Center in Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County.

Dr. Nuntia Gbanlon-Nuahn, the Family Health Director led the MOH’s delegation during the visit.

The visit formed part of ongoing oversight efforts surrounding the expansion of the facility, which is being implemented with support from the West African Health Organization (WAHO), the health agency of ECOWAS.

Among other things, The project seeks to improve access to high-quality healthcare services across the region.

The expansion project features the construction of a modern Maternal and Child Health (MCH) unit, outfitted with an operating theatre, triage area, waste management system, water supply infrastructure, generator room, kitchen, laundry area, and a 25kVA solar electrification system.

A perimeter fence will also be constructed to ensure the safety and security of the facility.

Once completed, the enhanced health center is expected to deliver comprehensive maternal and newborn healthcare services to residents of Grand Cape Mount County as well as cross-border communities in Sierra Leone, Guinea, and other ECOWAS member Countries.
