Liberian peacebuilding advocate Gwendolyn Myers the Executive Director of Messenger of Peace has been appointed to the Advisory Board of Directors of Resilead.
This Canadian-based social enterprise incubator invests in entrepreneurs across emerging markets where access to capital remains a major constraint.
The appointment marks a new chapter in the MoP Executive Director’s longstanding campaign for tangible peace dividends through economic empowerment and youth-led enterprise development.
Resilead focuses on structuring, financing, and scaling high-impact local ventures, particularly in fragile and post-conflict settings where limited access to structured capital continues to hinder growth and stability.
The newly appointed board member on her official Facebook page described the role as an opportunity to contribute to strengthening local enterprise ecosystems while expanding economic opportunities that foster stability and community confidence.
Across many parts of Africa, limited viable economic pathways for young people have been linked to increased vulnerability to violence and exploitation.
In her new role, Ms. Myers will help shape Resilead’s strategic direction and serve as a bridge to African networks and institutions.
The position also involves advising on the organization’s African Peace Initiatives, with a focus on aligning grant-making efforts with local peacebuilding priorities and ensuring that funding supports credible, community-rooted solutions.
According to the MoP Executive Director, Access to flexible grant capital can unlock innovation at scale, particularly for young founders operating in fragile environments. By supporting such initiatives, Resilead aims to generate measurable peace dividends that extend beyond economic returns.
She has expressed gratitude to the Resilead leadership for the confidence reposed in nearly two decades of experience in peacebuilding and youth engagement, reaffirming a commitment to advancing inclusive growth and sustainable peace across Africa and beyond.
