Liberia has joined its regional counterparts in Accra, Ghana, for the 49th Session of the Administrative Council of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), a major annual gathering that shapes the intellectual property landscape across the continent.

The session, hosted by the Republic of Ghana through the Registrar-General’s Department, runs from 17–20 November 2025 at the prestigious Labadi Beach Hotel.

This year’s meeting convenes Heads of Intellectual Property Offices from all 22 ARIPO Member States, alongside cooperating partners, international observers, and intellectual property agents.

The participants will review progress, adopt new strategies, and strengthen frameworks aimed at boosting innovation, protecting creative works, and supporting industrial growth in Africa.

Representing Liberia at the high-level forum are: Hon. Garmai Koboi, Director General of the Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) and Miss Jamus P. Bannah, Deputy Director General for Industrial Property.

Their presence highlights Liberia’s growing commitment to building a robust, inclusive, and innovation-driven intellectual property ecosystem.

According to LIPO, the delegation will engage in discussions on IP policy reforms, digital transformation of IP services, capacity building for creators and innovators, and regional enforcement mechanisms to combat piracy and counterfeiting.

Liberia’s participation comes at a crucial time, as the country intensifies efforts to modernize its IP regime and align with emerging continental standards.

LIPO says it is focused on strengthening partnerships, advancing legislation, and implementing programs that empower local creators, safeguard inventions, and stimulate economic diversification.

As deliberations continue in Accra, Liberia remains dedicated to leveraging regional cooperation to enhance its IP infrastructure and support national development through creativity, knowledge, and innovation.
