‎The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has unveiled a sweeping increase in prize money and financial support across its top football competitions, with a strong emphasis on promoting women’s football in the country.

‎Speaking during the media engagement on Tuesday, the President of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji, stated that beginning with the 2025/26 season, the LFA First Division champions will see a 50% increase in prize money, now set at US$30,000 while the Women’s Upper Division champions will receive US$25,000, reflecting a 25% boost in their prize.

‎”These developments were unanimously approved during the latest LFA Executive Committee meeting held on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the association’s headquarters”, he said.

‎In a further commitment to elevating the women’s game, the LFA President announced a US$1,500 increment in subventions to Upper Women’s Division clubs, raising total seasonal support to US$7,500 per club.

‎ Raji asserted that the additional funding is being facilitated through the CAF Impact Fund, underscoring the growing regional and international support for women’s football development in Liberia.

‎In another key change, the LFA Cup prize money has been increased and harmonized for both men’s and women’s competitions.

‎Meanwhile, each FA Cup winner will receive US$10,000, which marks a substantial shift from the previous structure, where the men’s champions received L$1.5 million, while the women’s champions received L$1 million.

‎The LFA President stated that these financial increases are part of a broader football development strategy designed to boost competitiveness, reward performance, and strengthen the overall structure of Liberian football.

‎“This is not just an investment in football, but in equity, opportunity, and excellence across all levels of the game,” said President Raji.

‎”With the new season approaching, these reforms are expected to energize clubs, players, and supporters, setting the stage for a more competitive and inclusive era in Liberian football”, The President stated.
