The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has strongly refuted allegations made by former Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee, describing his claims as “baseless, misleading, and politically motivated.”
Koijee, former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Secretary General recently accused the Commission of diverting public funds and making payments under what he termed a “December 6 Mobilization” scheme.
But in a statement issued on Thursday, the LACC dismissed the accusations as “false, reckless, and unsupported by any factual basis.”
According to the Commission, it has never authorized or made any payment linked to such an activity. It further stressed that it has “engaged in no scheme or illicit financial exercise” as suggested in the allegations.
“The LACC operates under strict legal, administrative, and financial procedures, all subject to internal controls, external audits, and the law,” the statement noted.
The Commission said any attempt to portray it as part of a criminal network or a political patronage system was “a deliberate effort to drag integrity institutions into political theatre.”
The anti-graft institution reaffirmed its commitment to impartial investigations and upholding standards of transparency and accountability across the public sector.
It reassured the Liberian people and international partners that it will remain focused on its constitutional mandate despite what it described as “calculated attempts to undermine its work.”
Notwithstanding, the LACC encouraged anyone with credible evidence of corruption to submit such information through lawful channels. “Justice is served through facts, not propaganda,” the statement added.
The Commission has emphasized that it remains “firm, focused, and unshaken” in the face of what it views as politically driven attacks.
