The Government of Liberia has completed a two-day compliance assessment of Bea Mountain Mining Company’s (BMMC) gold production, processing, and export operations in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County.

The inspection is part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) to ensure all mining companies adhere to the Minerals and Mining Law of Liberia and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for gold exportation.

A 20-member joint government delegation led by Mines and Energy Minister Wilmot Paye and Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Commissioner-General Dorbor Jallah conducted the assessment. The team included senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs (MOS), the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), and other key stakeholders.

According to a release issued Monday, May 5, 2025, the delegation visited BMMC’s gold smelting, packaging, weighing, and storage facilities in Kinjor, followed by a stop at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) to inspect the company’s gold shipment processes.

“This compliance visit will be done to all mining companies in the country. No one will be left out,” Minister Paye and Commissioner General Jallah assured the public.

The officials said the exercise aims to strengthen the government’s oversight of mining operations from extraction and processing to valuation and export to ensure transparency and accountability in the sector.
