The Government of Liberia, through the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, has dismissed reports suggesting an increase in service fees at the nation’s leading medical facility.

‎Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, addressed the growing concerns surrounding a memo circulating on social media regarding adjustments in service charges.

He clarified that the document was merely an internal proposal and had not received formal approval from the hospital’s management.

‎“There has been no approval for any fee hikes,” Deputy Minister Sando stated, emphasizing that the circulation of such misinformation poses a risk to public trust in the country’s premier referral hospital.

‎‎He further highlighted that under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, JFK Hospital has undergone notable improvements.

These include increased access to essential medications, upgraded surgical services, and ongoing infrastructure developments aimed at enhancing patient care.

Meanwhile, ‎The government is urging the public and media institutions to verify any health-related information through official channels before dissemination.

According to Minister Sando, the spread of unconfirmed reports not only causes unnecessary panic but also undermines the significant progress being made within Liberia’s healthcare system.
