Kollie Gaygay, a young business leader, is urging both organizers and participants of the upcoming demonstration to ensure that it remains peaceful.
The protest, spearheaded by the pro-democracy group Solidarity and Trust for a New Day, aims to highlight critical issues facing Liberians in order to draw the attention of the Unity Party Government.
Speaking to reporters Mr. Gaygay acknowledged the constitutional right of citizens to protest.
However, he stressed that maintaining peace throughout the demonstration is paramount.
He emphasized that the objectives of the July 17th protest cannot be achieved without peace and order, adding that any acts of violence or disorder would only undermine the movement’s message and credibility.
Gaygay also called on the Liberian Government, particularly the Liberia National Police, to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety of all citizens during the protest.
