President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. on Tuesday formally welcomed five newly appointed ambassadors to Liberia, underscoring the country’s ongoing efforts to broaden its international partnerships and deepen global engagement.
At a credential presentation ceremony held in the Cabinet Room of the Executive Mansion, President Boakai received Letters of Credence from the following envoys:
Guillermo Marín Gorbea, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mersole J. Mellejor, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Godwin Baletum Amonzem, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana and
Mamadu Keta, Ambassador of the Republic of Mali
Each ambassador conveyed greetings from their respective Heads of State and expressed a strong commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Liberia across sectors including trade, health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and cultural exchange.
President Boakai, in welcoming the diplomats, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Liberian government and people, emphasizing Liberia’s readiness to pursue “constructive and forward-looking” relations with friendly nations.
“This occasion is more than a diplomatic formality , it is a reaffirmation of our mutual commitment to building a better, more interconnected world,” Boakai said. “We view diplomacy not as a contest, but as a means of progress and cooperation”, he re-emphasized.
The Liberian leader outlined his administration’s foreign policy priorities, focused on attracting foreign investment, diversifying the economy, and supporting sustainable development initiatives.
He also highlighted the importance of the government’s ARREST Agenda, which emphasizes Agriculture, Roads, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism, as key areas for potential collaboration.
President Boakai urged the new ambassadors to explore fresh opportunities for partnership that align with the administration’s vision of inclusive growth and regional stability.
The ceremony was attended by senior Liberian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Executive Mansion.
The presentation of credentials marks the formal commencement of the ambassadors’ duties in Liberia and opens a new chapter of diplomatic engagement between their nations and the Republic of Liberia.
