Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has held a Presidential Dialogue with Liberians living in France and across the European diaspora, describing their contributions as “indispensable” to the country’s national development drive.
The engagement took place in Paris on Friday, October 31, following a series of diplomatic and investment-focused meetings with French authorities and development partners.
The townhall-style event brought together professionals, students, business leaders, and community representatives from several European countries.
It provided a platform for direct conversation with the President on issues including governance reforms, job creation, youth empowerment, education, and diaspora investment.
President Boakai stressed that his administration is prioritizing the involvement of Liberians abroad in national progress.
“The contributions of Liberians in the diaspora are indispensable to our nation’s progress,” President Boakai said.
“Your ideas, resources, and patriotism are crucial as we continue to rebuild institutions, create opportunities for our young people, and restore confidence in Liberia’s future.” President Boakai encourage Diaspora Liberians.
At the same time, Participants thanked the President for initiating direct dialogue with the diaspora and shared concerns about issues such as the implementation of dual citizenship, investment opportunities, and government support for diaspora-led development projects.
President Boakai outlined steps being taken to improve the investment climate, including reforms aimed at easing the process of doing business, strengthening governance systems, and mobilizing technical expertise from Liberian professionals abroad.
He encouraged unity and collaboration, saying Liberia’s long-term stability and economic recovery require collective commitment at home and abroad.
The meeting ended with renewed optimism and shared commitment toward building a peaceful and prosperous Liberia.
