The Government of Liberia has announced planned activities ahead of Liberia’s 178 independence day celebration. Speaking at a press conference, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah named Emmet Dunn as the July 26 day orator. Amb. Dunn was appointed on December 10, 2024 by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai as special Envoy on partnership and philanthropy respectively. Minister Piah said as part of the celebrations, the government will dedicate projects initiated by this government. By: Laymah Kollie Following thorough confirmation hearings, the Liberian Senate has unanimously confirmed Associate Justice Yarmie Quiqui Gbeisay as Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia. The Justice confirmation accumulated 24 votes with none abstained and none against. The Senate Protem Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has instructed Secretary of the Senate to communicate the decision to President Boakai for onward action. Justice Gbeisay when commission by President Boakai will replace former Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh who retired in June of this year.
