The Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce has reaffirmed its commitment to retrieval government assets allegedly stolen in and around Liberia.
According to AREPT Chairman, Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin they will never give up, and will keep pushing and ensuring that the mandate of AREPT is achieved.
Speaking at the launched of the institution’s Website in Paynesville Cllr. Edwin Martin stated that Corruption fights back, with this notion in mind, they have handled the litigation professionally and today, they are bold, strong and committed to the fight against corruption.
He noted that AREPT has launched over two dozens of investigations Obtained one indictment which is presently in court, adding that they are partnering with international forensic experts on Asset tracing as well as the conducting of public awareness and town hall meetings in multiple counties.
Cllr. Martin acknowledged that they have Secured inter-agency collaboration with other integrity institutions in Liberia with a prospect for AREPT to be legislated by an Act of the Legislature.
It can be recall that AREPT was initially announced by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai in March 2024 as Executive Order #126 and after its expiration, it was re-announced in March 2025 as Executive Order #145.
The mandate of AREPT includes; Identify and trace all of Liberia’s stolen and suspicious assets within and without the borders of Liberia; Constitute an investigative panel to probe into illegally acquired assets of the Republic of Liberia and suspicious assets; among others.
In his Keynote addressed, the Assistant Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Lawrence Fahnbulleh reaffirmed its commitment to assist ministries, agencies, Commissions and taskforces to develop tailored messages and multimedia content creations for public awareness.
According to MICAT, with cutting-edge technology in information disseminating, the world is evolving daily through different multimedia-media platforms targeting thousands of people at once there are several channels of communications apart of website and traditional media.
Making the Disclosure, Acting Assistant Minister of Information Services, Lawrence Fahnbulleh said Liberians are deeply concern and wanting to get reliable and vital information on the retrieval of stolen public assets and wealth and the website will serve such purpose.
Assistant Minister Fahnbulleh indicated that with the Launched of the Website, it will minimize public speculations and wide spread of misinformation about programs, activities, progress and challenges within governmental institutions.
