WAFU Women’s Tournament Kick-off Postponed Due to VisaIssues

The kickoff of the WAFU Zone A Women’s Tournament, initially
scheduled for today, has been postponed to May 22 due to visa delays affecting
several participating teams.

Liberia’s Female Lone Star, currently in Ivory Coast, is
among those impacted and is expected to receive its visas by tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Sierra Leone’s Leon Stars are reportedly in Guinea, also awaiting
visa approval.

In addition to the visa complications, The Gambia’s squad
arrived late yesterday, prompting concerns over player fatigue. Tournament
organizers cited this as a contributing factor in the decision to delay the
competition.

With the revised schedule, Liberia is now set to play its
first match on May 22 at 4 PM, facing Guinea Bissau in an away fixture.

The visa delays experienced by Liberia are not isolated.
Similar challenges have been reported by delegations from other West African
Football Union (WAFU) Zone A nations, including Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Cape
Verde, all facing difficulties securing Mauritanian visas.
