The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Liberia, has concluded a week-long series of high, level committee meetings in Monrovia, bringing together key stakeholders in the nation’s education and examination systems.
The Committee has expressed serious concern over the Government of Liberia’s growing arrears and urged authorities to settle outstanding financial obligations in order to support the continued operations of the Council.
The meetings ran from November 10–14, 2025, and were attended by Government nominees, representatives of the Ministry of Education, university leaders, school principals, teacher associations, and other partners.
It was chaired by Deputy Minister for Instruction and Chief Government Nominee to the Council, Hon. Amos A. Fully, focused on examinations oversight, finance, administration, staffing, and policy direction for WAEC’s operations in Liberia.
During its sitting, the Liberia Examinations Committee received reports and statistics on the 2025 national examinations.
It also reviewed cases of irregularities and malpractice, imposing sanctions on candidates found guilty.
The Committee commended WAEC for collaborating with the Ministry of Education to introduce 30 new technical and vocational subjects into the WASSCE beginning in 2026.
The Administrative and Finance Committee reviewed both Internal and External Audit Reports and praised WAEC Management for its prudent financial practices.
The Appointments Committee approved the hiring, confirmation, and promotion of eligible staff, while the Liberia National Committee reviewed reports from all committees and lauded WAEC staff for effectively carrying out the Council’s mandate despite limited resources.
Closing the meetings, WAEC Registrar, Alhaji Pateh Bah, thanked the Government of Liberia for its continued support and praised Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Malley Jallah for her openness toward the Council.
He also commended Hon. Amos A. Fully for his leadership of the Liberia National Committee.
